Product Details

The VM Manufacturing 10 AMP Compact Plating Machine replaces bulky, old-style rectifiers with a palm-size unit that still delivers serious power. Weighing about 3/4 lb (≈ 350 g) and measuring 5" × 3" × 1-1/2", it provides up to 10 A intermittent (8 A continuous) for batch work—capable of plating up to ~30 rings at a time. The unit supports bath plating, brush (selective) plating, and pen plating, with built-in connections for touch-ups and spot work.

Key Features

  • High output, tiny footprint: 10 A intermittent / 8 A continuous in a hand-held form factor.
  • Three modes: bath plating, brush plating*, and pen plating** (built-in pen connections).
  • Wide operating range: 1.5 V DC to 12 V DC with a large digital display for voltage and amperage.
  • Protection built in: over-current, over-voltage, and short-circuit protection for longer service life.
  • Bench friendly: light, compact, and stows in a drawer when not in use.
  • Made in the USA by VM Manufacturing (a division of Vaniman).

What’s Included

  • VM 10 A compact plating machine
  • 10 A-rated plating leads (cables)
  • Brush plating attachment
  • FREE pen-plating pen (limited-time offer)

Usage Notes

  • On power-up, allow ~6–10 seconds for the unit to energize; when the display reads 1.5 V or higher, plating can begin.
  • Use appropriate anodes and solutions for your process (e.g., platinized titanium for rhodium baths).

About Brush & Pen Plating

  • *Brush plating: portable, selective application of plating solution to a specific area without an immersion tank—ideal for touch-ups and on-part repairs.
  • **Pen plating: uses a felt-tip pen to apply specialized pen solutions for precise highlights and spot plating.

Safety

  • Follow all chemical and electrical safety practices; wear appropriate PPE.
  • Verify voltage/current settings for the solution and alloy in use to avoid over-plating or burning.
