Our most popular satin finish wheels, Technique* Bufflex wheels are used to produce beautiful satin finishes on all sorts of metals. Made in France.
Choose from 3 grades:
Technique Bufflex wheels are made of compressed, non-woven aluminum oxide and are used for deburring and deoxidizing and wide range of metals including gold, silver, platinum, palladium, brass, copper, titanium, pewter, tin, steel, iron and aluminum. Technique Bufflex wheels are commonly used with tapered spindles mounted on polishing lathes. Technique Bufflex wheels are used dry with no compounds needed. When used properly, Technique Bufflex wheels are durable with a long service life. Each layer of the Technique Bufflex wheel is in a flap circular radial blades formation, a construction that adds to its durability.
Technique Bufflex wheels are available in three grades, TF (Very Fine) F (Fine) and M (Medium)
The TF and F grades are very popular for satin finishes.
Recommended speed for use: 1400-2800 rpm
Method for use: Use with tapered spindle on polishing lathes. A variable speed polishing lathe like the Foredom polishing lathe BL (134.376) is an excellent choice. Because this wheel works best below the standard speed (usually around 3450 rpm) of most single speed polishing motors, for best results you should consider using a 2-speed polishing motor like the Baldor 340T (147.113), which has a one speed of 1800 rpm and another of 3600 rpm. Another popular motor to consider is the Baldor 353T (147.114), which has a one speed of 1725 rpm and another of 3450 rpm.
*As of Spring 2016 the Bufflex satin finish wheels are now branded as Technique satin finished wheels. Still produced in France for use in the watch and jewelry industry, there has been no change to the material or production of the wheel, only the name has changed.
