An important part of any soldering station, these 3/4" thick Solderite soldering boards are softer than the 1/2" solderite soldering boards. Because they are softer, you can stick pins into these boards and you can also make impressions for holding items in place. Solderite boards are OSHA approved as an asbestos substitute. Solderite boards are made of calcium silicate with inert fillers and reinforcing agents for strength. They have excellent heat-reflectivity and cool down quickly.

 

Solderite boards reflect more heat compared to ceramic or silquar boards, so they are useful for soldeing larger jobs than can use the extra heat.  They are also cleaner to work on compared to charcoal blocks or firebrick. Maximum temperature is 1700^oF (927^oC).
