Wave Steel Sinusoidal Stakes are precision-formed tools for anticlastic forming—the process of shaping sheet metal into opposing curves, producing graceful, flowing forms. These USA-made stakes are machined from durable steel and finished smooth for consistent contact surfaces. Commonly used in jewelry and metalsmithing for raising, shaping, and texturing curved forms.
In synclastic forming, the metal curves in the same direction (like a dome). In anticlastic forming, the metal curves in opposite directions at right angles, creating saddle-like shapes. According to Michael Good’s “Anticlastic Forming” (see downloads), sinusoidal stakes are essential for controlling these complex curves and can be used with a variety of hammers depending on the stake material and desired.
