Oval Taiwan Jade Cabochon

Highly prized since prehistoric times, Jade has been used for many purposes besides jewelry, including tools, religious artifacts, medicine and musical wind chimes. Two different gemstones are accepted as Jade in the gem industry, Jadeite and Nephrite. Jade consists of tiny interlocking mineral crystals of metamorphic rock and is an extremely tough gem. While Jade is typically associated with shades of green, the gem comes in a wide range of colors, including lavender, blue and red. Clean with warm, soapy water. Use of ultrasonic and steam cleaner is usually safe.
