I recently purchased a NSK micromotor and decided I would go with this hammer handpiece over the Foredom one. I don't know if I'm using it wrong, but it really doesn't seem to have a lot of force behind the hammering. I've watched a lot of videos of hammer setting with a foredom hammer handpiece and the bezels move quite effortlessly. I'm spending up to an hour getting a silver bezel to push over, which doesn't seem right.
Hi Shannon,
Sorry you aren't happy with the power of the NSK hammer handpiece. NSK makes great products but the strenght of the NSK hammer is not up to standards for stonesetting as it is 'speced' for light industrial use. I would recommend the excellent Badeco 217 hammer handpiece hooked up the flex shaft of your choice or the Foredom K1080 hammer micromotor kit. Both the Badeco hammer handpiece and the Foredom micromotor hammer are made for the jewelry industry and pack a strong punch you can control (take care not to break stones)! Perhaps you will consider returning your recent NSK hammer handpiece for a refund/credit. Steven Frei
