Artifex wheels are made in Germany of silicon carbide bonded on a non-clogging spongy rubber base. The cushion effect eliminates gouging on precious metals as these wheels will conform to contours much better than any other silicon carbide rubber bonded wheel on the market. Although they are more expensive than most, Artifex wheels can be economical because they are much longer lasting than the competition. Artifex wheels are commonly used in industrial applications in Germany, but jewelers have discovered them as a dependable abrasive for deburring and producing smooth matte finishes quickly and easily while not creating a lot of dust and debris. Artifex wheels work great on a wide variety of metals like gold, silver, copper, platinum, steel and aluminum.

We import 2 different sizes of Artifex conforming wheels from Germany- 4" (100mm) diameter wheels in Fine (250G), Medium (150G)and Coarse (80G) grits and6" (150mm) diameter wheel in Fine (250G) and Medium (150G) grits. All are 3/4" (20mm) thick with 1/4" (6mm) center holes for use on standard jewelers tapered spindles with a polishing lathe.

This is a superb product!

I use the fine and medium Artifex wheels almost daily in my design studio. They are superb for smoothing the surface after removing sprues, pre-polishing and getting precise flat sides on rings, etc.
