Art Clay Copper 50 Gram Pack
The Quick, User Friendly Copper Clay-Fires with Butane Torch or Electric Kiln-No Activated Carbon Required
Art Clay Copper is a clay material that you can use to make a wide range of pieces such as jewelry, craft designs and larger objects like sculptures and models. Unlike other clay coppers, Art Clay Copper can be fired with a torch or in an electric kiln without using any type of cumbersome or restrictive media, with the resulting fired piece being 100% pure copper.
Art clay copper has a 10% shrinkage rate as Art Clay Copper in clay state is 90% pure copper with the remainder of the clay being moisture and organic binder.
Art Clay Copper fires in a kiln without having to cover the pieces with activated carbon. When kiln firing, it is recommended that you have a electric kiln that can reach 1778oF and hold that temperature for 30 minutes. If you do not have such a kiln (Paragon SC-2 and SC-3 are excellent choices), Art Clay Copper can be torched fired with a simple butane torch in around 10 minutes.
Although it is not recommended, simple beehive kilns and other metal clay firing systems can be used with some success.
Art Clay Copper is finished using pickling solution in a pickler, and then with traditional finishing methods using metal brushes, burnishers, polishing wheels or tumblers. Be sure to keep tools and polishing medias used for this purpose separate from other tools or media you use for other clay metals.
