14KY,14KW,18KY,18KW & Platinum 7.1mm Guardian II Positive Locking Earring Backs

These are the Guardian II Positive locking large (7.1mm outside diameter) earring backs with Comfort triggers that fit a 1.06mm diameter post.  They are also called Guardian II Ear Nuts and Guardian II Safety Earring Backs. Positive locking earring backs have been on the market since the French first produced the ZOP system in the late 20th century.  They are a marvelous invention that keeps earring secure while requiring 2 tabs on either side of the ear nut for the nut to be released. They are positive locking, as the tabs snap close around a groove on the matching ear post. While the original ZOPS are no longer made, and some other brands have come and gone, the Guardians are now the dominate locking system in the market.   They differ from the original Guardians by having slightly larger triggers that are bent over to present a smooth surface to push against when unlocking them from the post. Original Guardians have straight ridged tabs on either side of the clutch. We always recommend that you use these clutches with their matching ear posts (see 20B-302POMAIN below), but talented jewelers can always spend the time and effort to make a post work with these systems.
