Product Details

The New Durston Student Workbench with Bench Apron has a much lager bench apron than currently pictured. All Durston 1916 have had that larger apron* since 2023.

The Durston Student Jewelers Workbench Plus has been crafted from an Eco-friendly hardwood named Hevea Brasilienis. This affordable workbench accommodates a wooden railing around the 1" (25 mm) thick top, curved cut out area with bench pin hole and bench pin. Two different size mandrel holes are drilled and right and left hand arm supports are supplied.  This latest versions include a side mounted tool holder and a catch apron. It's a great student bench that allows the artist to hit the ground running. This bench is sold disassembled and takes about 10 minutes to put together using the included instructions.

This economical jewelers bench apron is made from high quality fire retardant PU (polyurethane) leather, also called leatherette.  This bench apron has pre cut holes with metal eyelets and rope fastenings.

*Bench aprons are meant to be oversize so they can drape between your legs and make a nice pocket for capturing metal scraps and shavings.  Bench apron use is popular in Europe and more and more North American jewelers are finding this style of metal collection system to be superior as by its nature you are forced to collect metal scraps throughout the day.  This can help keep metal types separate.

To avoid damaging the apron while doing soldering work at the bench you can simply remove the front of the apron from its hooks and let it fall away from the danger zone.

**Tool Holder adds 4" (100 mm) to width

Overpriced

I just received this from you and all the measurements are incorrect on the site and for someone that’s disabled this is difficult to put together and they deleted my last review on this bench within 24 hours and mine came with a dent on the right railing. DO NOT DELETE THIS REVIEW

Excellent starter bench

I love this bench, it’s great quality, super sturdy and easy to put together. The included apron, peg and tool holder make it really good value. It’s a starter bench but I can see it lasting me forever!

Student workbench

I have been beading and wire wrapping for 30 years. I recently became interested in metal smithing. I started looking at jewelers work benches. A lot of them are very expensive and a lot are not real wood. I had joined the metal smithing society and saw a student workbench at Otto Frei for sale with a discount. It was just what I wanted. Simple and sturdy. Its awesome! Its solid and strong. Was very easy to put together. It looks great. The one thing I really felt was important was the lip around the top. The other things were icing on the cake. I could not have made this myself for this price. I love my new workbench. Thank-you Otto Frei
